Residential Garbage and Recycling Best Practices
Residential garbage and recycling pickup:
Residential garbage and recycling pick-up is scheduled for Tuesday mornings apart from holiday weekends. Each residence is limited to one bag. *Purchase tags for additional bags (See resources below),

Cigarettes and dog waste:
If you smoke, butt out responsibly.
Use a tin can or other method to collect your butts and dispose of them with your garbage.
Do not use flowerbeds as your dog park.
People tend to these gardens and dog waste kills plants. Take the time to walk your dog in the park.
Garbage and recycling containers:
Invest in garbage containers.
Mark your address on all recycling boxes clearly with a permanent marker or paint to deter theft.
Illegal Dumping :
Never dispose of garbage in or beside public garbage receptacles:
This is considered illegal dumping and comes with a minimum $200 penalty plus extra charges for cleanup costs. These receptacles are for public use only.
If you witness instances of illegal dumping in downtown Kingston, email: bylawenforcement@cityofkingston.ca
Do not dispose of large items like construction materials or furniture on the sidewalk. Take it to a designated waste disposal site.
